I have shot Sovereign Syre three times now and all three times have been in hotels or motels. The first time was in Vegas in a super fancy hotel but then we shot at the terrifying and haunted Cecil and this set was shot at this super budget motel in LA that I rented sometime last year. When I go out to LA for a couple weeks at a time hotels get fucking expensive and I love the esthetic of shitty motels even if I don’t enjoy staying in them.

Sov rules even if the lighting doesn’t and I guess this makes back to back sets with terrible color balance. I realize I could do something to correct this shit but I also don’t want to. I like to pretend that I like everything raw and untouched but really I just hate using Photoshop. It’s fucking boring.

When Carter Cruise won Best New Starlet at the 2015 AVN Awards I was outside talking to a super hot cam girl instead of doing my job. Carter was busy the whole time I was in LA except for my very last night in town which also happened to be the night of the Super Bowl. I had her meet me at Donald Glover’s Super Bowl party because I wanted to see if I could make this post extra name droppy and then we went back to my super creepy hotel room (where I had already shot Amarna Miller & Silvia Rubi) and took a bunch of photos.

I was in a horrible mood because the cheating sacks of skin and garbage known as the New England Patriots had just won the Super Bowl but Carter fucking rules and the shoot a blast. She was just laughing the whole time so I took really fun photos of her losing her shit and making dumb faces and just being a super hot babe to the max.

After the shoot we went over to Janice Griffith and Alison Faye’s apartment for some reason and I took a hand full of naked photos of the three of them because that seems like the right thing to do and then we went over to the Ace Hotel for an LA Art Book Fair after party.

By the end of the night Carter and I had become bffs and we decided we would get NSFW tattoos together. I had a flight in a few hours so the tattoos would have to wait, but  last week Carter was in New York and we got tattooed together! I actually spent my whole 35th birthday with her which was great cause as I mentioned she is awesome and hanging out with a really hot naked 20 something is the perfect cure for feeling old as fuck.

Now I realize posting a massive gallery of over 100 images of naked porn stars on a Friday evening seems like bad timing but their is a method to my madness. I am headed to LA in two weeks and I plan on taking a massive amount of naked photos while I am there and I realized I have a TON of old naked content that hasn’t seen the light of day. So this whole party starts with a Friday night dump of a ton of the stuff I shot while I was in Vegas in January for the AVN Awards. The crazy thing is that most of this gallery (plus a bunch more dirtier stuff) has been on Girls Of Driven By Boredom SINCE January but I am just now giving you guys this stuff for free. Starting on Sunday I will be releasing a new girl gallery to Girls of DBB one day before it shows up on this site. Now let’s get to these photos. To star with I shot my old pal (and two different prostitutes on Game of Thrones!) Samantha Bentley. We were just fucking around with my camera in her hotel room when Dahlia Sky came up to the room so I shot the two of them together. The photos were mostly just for fun but it made for a great photo of me… In the mix are some photos of Adriana Chechik doing weird shit like she do, Lily LaBeau looking like a fashion model like she do, and some shots of Burning Angels Taurus and Veronica Rose.

Continuing with the Vegas madness I shot BBW babe Marilyn Mayson in the back of my rental car and the insane Ashlee Graham on a total strangers shoulders. I was racing the sun as I made it to British porn star Jasmine Jae’s hotel room and I didn’t think I was going to make it but I realized if I shot her between her curtains in the window there was just enough light to shoot a mini set of her. After that I grabbed British porn girls Amarna Miller and Silvia Rubi and took them up to the roof with a cam girl I met named Jane and a random lady she met at a swingers party the night before. Jane’s friend was just there to make sure Jane didn’t get murdered but she ended up getting naked too!

Let’s see what else… I shot Lucy Everleigh and Anya Amsel on the roof too. I had been trying to shoot Lucy FOREVER and finally got to meet her. Apparently she lives in wherever she lives and just cams and never actually does photoshoot. I took her photo shoot virginity and you will get to see a full set of her (in a bathtub) next week! By the way Anya Amsel is such a babe and one of these days I am going to hopefully do a shoot with her. I didn’t know who she was until Lucy introduced us but now I am kinda in love.

Lastly I did a shoot with a reporter named Rachel Rabbit White who was writing about AVN for Thought Catalog and decided getting naked in a bathroom would be good for the story. I highly supported her decision.

A significant amount of my life has been spent in Beauty Bar. Just do a search on my site to see how often it comes up. It’s a lot. I have photographed events in Beauty Bars in Vegas, LA, Austin and the Brooklyn location. LA and Austin all had their time and are gone now but their are still Beauty Bars in San Francisco, Chicago, Denver, Dallas and of course the original location on 14th Street in Manhattan.

Last night Beauty Bar celebrated twenty years since opening the doors of that first NYC location and I had to be there to party with so many familiar faces. Ironically the anniversary event was actually at Webster Hall with the after party at Beauty Bar but they made the middle floor of Webster look like Beauty Bar since Beauty Bar isn’t licensed to have live music… and there was a lot of live music.

The Prettiots opened the night and I was really excited to see them since I am doing a photo project with their front woman Kay. They were great which was a relief since I had only heard one of their songs before last night. I was a huge fan of Kay already but it’s pretty hard not to fall in love with her after watching them play.

Flor de Toloache played next and they were an all female mariachi band which was kinda rad. It also marks the second time in two weeks that I have seen a mariachi band. Up next were Daddy Long Legs who put on a hell of a show and were the most rockin’ band of the night. Still not psyched on the dudes with perms look coming back, but I will forgive them because they were great. The night ended with the band from the Hedwig & The Angry Inch Broadway musical playing a bunch of covers and they brought out my old pal and nightlife legend Michael T to a Bowie song. It was a pretty fun way to wrap things up.

In between bands there was a sword swallowing performance, two burlesque acts (hi Betttina May!), DJs and hosting insanity from Joey Arias. All in all a great night but the best part was seeing all the old friends and Beauty Bar family that I rarely see now that we all really old and the East Village has become overrun with douche bags.

Congrats Mike and Paul on 20 years as a NYC institution. Here’s to 20 more.

I was introduced to Alex Chance when I heard about the Girls porn parody. Shortly after it came out Alex followed me on Twitter. I figured I had to be one of the only people followed by both Lena Dunham and the porn version of Lena Dunham. I tweeted something to that effect and ended up becoming Twitter pals with Alex.

I finally got to shoot her about a year ago when I was in LA shooting the Support, Therapy and Instability LA book release at the Ace Hotel. The day before the party I was at the Ace up in one of the hotel rooms PPP booked for the party and invited Alex along to take some photos. I don’t shoot a lot of flash photos anymore but the room was super dark and it was night time so I didn’t really have a choice. I though the photos ended up looking pretty with the flash and the mirror in the room anyway.

Also a bonus for this set is cameos from Ivy Diamond who I had photographed earlier that day and my buddy Slutlust from PPP. Good times.

Just a quick update today before I run out to watch more hockey. Playoffs are fucking exhausting. I mostly wanted to make sure I let you know about the party I am hosting on Thursday. It’s been a long time since I hosted a party that I didn’t actually throw but my buddy Carol Sharks asked me to do it and I couldn’t say no.

Her party Baewatch is joining forces with an LA party called Candy to form some sort of Voltronesque super party at Sway (305 Spring St). By the way, I can’t tell if Baewatch is the worst name for a party ever or a really good one. Come to the party and let me know how you feel about it. It’s all lady DJs and the other host is my home girl Pebbles so it’s gonna be me and a bunch of ladies and one of the ladies boyfriends who is providing candy which seems insane but I do tattoos at parties so I guess it makes more sense than that.

I haven’t decided if I am taking photos or not but I will at least be brining my camera so if you really feel like showing me your boobs or balls or something I can at least hook you up with a quick snap or two. I mean that’s just the kinda guy I am.

On a totally different topic I uploaded a bunch of naked Polaroids to the Driven By Boredom Etsy store. Well, technically they are Fuji Instax Wide but you get the idea. I got shots of  Krysa Kaos, Ashlee Graham and polaroids of Ash Hollywood and Sasha Pain together. Two babes in one!

As my life recently has been a series of one horrible event after another I figured I needed to do some shit to break out of it. I started a new personal project yesterday, I am eating a bit better, I booked a tattoo appointment I have been avoiding and I am actually going to the doctors to get a check up for the first time in 15 years. On top of that I decided I should just go ahead and publish one of my favorite photo shoots of all time.

I don’t know why I have been holding on to this for so long but this shoot I did with Raven Rockette at the abandoned Rock-A-Hoola Water Park is pretty fucking amazing. The funny thing is I already posted a shoot I did with Raven that was taken AFTER this one. I guess I was just holding it for a special occasion and this is it.

A few years ago I saw this skate video that was shot at this amazing abandoned waterpark and I knew I needed to shoot there. I looked the place up and I saw that it was right on the drive from LA to Vegas. I had passed it dozens of times and didn’t notice somehow. It also is right by Route 66 where I spent 17 days working on my first book, but yet somehow I had never heard of it before this skate video.

I was in LA for my brother’s 30th birthday and I ended up getting a gig working for Sailor Jerry at the Viva Las Vegas car show and so I hit up Raven Rockette because I knew she lived in Vegas. I pitched her on the Rock-A-Hoola idea and she was really into it so the day after Viva Las Vegas we drove half way back to LA until we came to this amazing artifact of urban decay.

It was a bit sketchy once we pulled up and realized there wasn’t any hiding the car. It was either just park it along the road or drive back in there and try to hide it behind a building or something. You could still see the car from the highway and there would be no escaping if a cop pulled up. Even once you were inside in most places it would be easy to see the naked girl and photographer walking around the abandoned water park.

We were also pretty nervous that we would run into other people but we never did. We explored for nearly an hour and I took photos of her in the empty lazy river ride, up top where the highest waterslides used to be and even climbing on to buildings that have been closed since 2004.

The whole thing was an amazing experience with an amazing model and I think Raven and I killed it. I am usually pretty underwhelmed with my work but this is one of my favorite shoots of all time. And I really hope you guys dig it as much as I did.

As per usual I held back a few of the slightly more explicit shots for Girls of Driven By Boredom. It is completely insane to me that the last time I posted a full set of Veruca James was in 2011. (Watch the video of that shoot here!) Since then I have taken so many photos of Veruca and she’s become a good friend but we never did a proper photo shoot until last January. And by last January I mean 2014. I shot these photos for a magazine that didn’t end up running them and I totally forgot about them until someone posted a 35mm outtake I shot of Veruca and Janice Griffith right at the end of this shoot. I realized not only had I not posted Veruca’s set but I also didn’t post the photos of Veruca and Janice together or the first set I ever shot of Janice. Clearly I needed to fix that.

So I immediately uploaded a mini app exclusive set to the Girls of Driven By Boredom of Veruca and Janice. It’s only like 15 photos but they are really fun and most of them fairly graphic. It seemed like a perfect thing to save just for the app. I also edited all the photos of Veruca and Janice so they are ready to go.

First up, as you may have guessed from the title of this post, are the pictures of Veruca James. She is responsible for some of my favorite naked photos ever. (Like this print you can buy in my Etsy store!) This shoot was a quick one in her hotel room during the AVN Awards so she is wearing a stupid AVN wristband and let’s just say we didn’t have a hair stylist available. Fortunately Veruca is fucking adorable and you will probably dig on these photos a lot.

Also, since I shot this for an adult magazine there are a bunch of porny shots that I don’t post on this site, but you can see them all on Girls of DBB with the set of her and Janice. The app is super cheap so it’s kinda a win/win. Just saying.

As more and more luxury buildings move into the Lower East Side and bars close and rent goes up people are increasingly talking about the death of New York nightlife. More of my friends are moving to LA and nothing seems fun anymore. I am sure a lot of that is just me getting old, but New York nightlife took a huge hit last night with the death of DJ Jess Marquis.

I took some really fun photos at this Empire Records party last night but those shots are going to have to wait while I deal with the death of one of my first friends in NYC and a true champion of the old New York.

I have had a bunch of friends die in my life, and too many recently. I think about Ease Da Man all the time and Dust La Rock’s passing was a gut punch but as much as I miss those dudes neither could come close to the impact that Jess had on my life.

Jess’ legendary party Trash was my favorite party in New York of all time. It was one of the first parties I went to and when it was at Rififi it was as good as any weekly party could ever get. Jess also threw Rated X which was probably the most insanely fun and debaucherous party outside of Motherfucker which of course Jess also DJd. His Thursday night party “in the seedy basement of Lit”, NC-17, was one of the best places to get people naked.

Honestly, now that I think about it Jess’ parties are responsible for a massive amount of my sex life. I mean I met all the Burning Angel’s at his parties and they formed my dating pool for years. I met my first girlfriend in NYC at Trash and Jess even through a party for the 10th anniversary of me losing my virginity!

Jess threw every birthday party I had in NYC including my 27th birthday party which was easily the most insane night of my life and my 30th birthday party which was also the last birthday party I ever had. He threw Driven By Boredom anniversary parties and was one of the reasons I went to the AVN Awards for the first time. He just had such a big impact on my life.

I wouldn’t be doing anything I am doing today if it weren’t for him. I started nightlife photography to take photos at his parties. He might have been the first person ever to pay me to do it, even if it was just in drink tickets or something. I wouldn’t know porn people if it weren’t for that AVN trip. I started shooting for the Village Voice because they loved all the nudity I got at crazy parties. Nearly every one of those parties Jess threw.

I always told Jess how corny I thought he was. He was this drama kid turned nightlife icon who was so over the top about everything. I am so apathetic and Jess was the exact opposite and his love for burlesque and Morrissey made me roll my eyes. I blame him for the fact that I know all the lyrics to a dozen fucking Smiths songs. He was just so fucking silly and would make me take photo after photo of him and wouldn’t tell anyone he was probably 5 years older than they all thought he was. I gave him shit for all of it, but I would kill to care about anything as much as he did all of this shit.

I can still remember all the lines he delivered night after night at his many many parties. “What’s up you sexy motherfuckers?!” and “Two for one drinks at the bar! If you buy one you get one free!” are the first two that pop in my mind right now but I know I will never have to worry about forgetting his voice. And I will never forget his face because he never aged and I have more photos of him than probably any other person I have ever photographed.

Speaking of, Jess was a great nightlife photographer and I used to look at his work every day when I was first shooting party photos. He just put down the camera at some point to focus on music but for my money he was as good as anyone capturing the downtown scene in New York. I am not sure what’s going to happen to his stuff, but I would kill to get a copy of his hard drive so I could do a book of his nightlife photos.

In recent years I haven’t spent a lot of time with Jess. He stopped doing Trash to focus on doing his own music. He wanted to tour and stop playing the same new wave songs every single night. He was still throwing tons of parties but I can’t stand going into the city anymore so I never saw him. I honestly couldn’t tell you the last time we hung out but I was following all the shit he was doing and I know he was on top of my shit too.

Jess was the defender of nightlife. He was responsible for giving wave after wave of young kids coming to New York a sense of what NYC was like back in the 70s and 80s and making us understand that it was our responsibility to carry on that tradition and make sure to get as weird and as fucked up as humanly possible.

Jess I fucking love you man and it fucking kills me that I am never going to get to take your picture again.

Today I spent an hour pulling tons of photos I took of Jess. There are a lot of these that aren’t great photos and there are so many great ones I couldn’t find. At some point I just couldn’t look at photos of Jess anymore. That being said I pulled nearly 80 photos of him and I hope everyone who loved him, and I know there are a lot of you, gets a chance to check out this gallery.
