New Party Friday

Since Playhouse at Cain has ended I needed some new work.  Fortunately my friend Andie Cassette is throwing a new party upstairs at Rebel with her partner Count RockuLA on Fridays.  Electro Chris will be there too. The party is called Masquerade and its free if you wear a costume.  It’s free if you RSVP too, and its 18+ so you young kids can get in too!   Come hang out and get you photo taken.

Trash Yourself At Cain Wednesday

Hey kids. I really want you to come out to Cain (27th between 10th and 11th) on Wednesday. I always want you to come out but this week is really special. My friends from Trash Yourself will be playing and it should be a blast. Get there by midnight. We will party all night.

Nextly I wanted to update you on my sickness front. Today was the first day that I felt reasonably okay. I laid in bed all day yesterday and I think that helped. Today I got some sun and I think that helped too. I am going to stay in tonight and try to get some more sleep and hopefully I will be back to photographing and updating tomorrow.  It is probably best I haven’t been blogging because it would have been about the NFL Draft, playoff hockey and the hours of Myth Busters I have been watching because I hadn’t left my apartment in 30 hours.

I plan on getting some nudes up tomorrow and going to Happy Endings, so I will see you then, and see you on Wednesday. Party forever.

Trash Yourself

I did everything in my power to bring Trash Yourself to NYC.  It worked.  They are playing a short late night set tomorrow and then again at Playhouse at Cain on Wednesday.  Get excited.  I’ll post the Playhouse flyer when I get it.  TY is great, check out the photos I took of them at SXSW here.

Playhouse Video

If you have been to Cain on a Wednesday in the last couple months you might have seen Dan Baxter hovering around with his video camera. He has been making videos from his collected footage. This is his second in a trilogy I believe. (First one is here.) Evidently the next one has a lot of shots of my anniversary party. This footage makes my life seem really fun I think. I shoot this party every week, but I am not sure I take a lot of time to enjoy it. It is a pretty crazy scene. Check out my photos from Playhouse and come out tonight. It is at 27th between 10th and 11th. It’s a good time.

Also, just FYI, I am still editing 5500 images I shot at SXSW. The updates will start tomorrow… I swear…

Anniversary Parties!!

Okay, so this has gotten a bit out of hand.  I was thinking about doing something for the 8th anniversary, but now it has turned in to a week of me having to bust my ass over all sorts of things.  50 people ordered the shirt online and we are only making 100 free ones, so that means I only have 50 to give out this week… except I promised a lot of people tank tops and there are no tank tops so I am going to get the 100 free ones and give them out all week and then somehow get more, most likely out of my own pocket, and try to cover the people who ordered them.  This is not good.  On top of that I now have three parties to promote, two that I am officially hosting.  That means I need to bring a shit load of people out to the parties.  So here is how that is going to work:

Tuesday @ Disco Down @ Happy Endings:
This is sort of an opening night party, I am going to have about 20 shirts and  I am just going to see how the whole thing goes.  I will be there around 1 and we can see if my intern and I have our shit together.

Wednesdy @ Playhouse @ Cain:
This I have to get my shit together for.  I will be attempting to send out a mass text.  It failed last time.  Anyway for this party anyone can get in FREE you just have to mention DrivenByBoredom at the door.  If I bring out more than 20 people I get another bottle so come out and get DRUNK on free Vodka and I will be giving away a bunch more shirts. Also I know a lot of my friends haven’t been out to Cain  yet.  It’s super fun even though it is in the Meat Packing District.  It is on 27th between 10th and 11th Ave.  Come!

Friday @ Trash @ Webster Hall:
Trash has been my one consistant party over these last 2.5 years.  We have to do it up there.  I have a big guest list to fill, so email me if you want on that.  If you want to bring people, let me know about that too, but just don’t flake on me.  If you aren’t on my guest list, mention DrivenByBoredom for reduced admission.  We are going to be giving away shirts, I’ll probably have some free booze and we are going to be projecting my photos on the big TVs they have on stage downstairs.  Make sure you go to the side, Studio entrance for my list.

Happy 8th Anniversary Driven By Boredom!

UPDATE: DUE TO MY SERVER BEING DOWN ALL FUCKING DAY YOU CAN CLAIM YOUR FREE SHIRT UNTILL THE END OF MONDAY!

Today is the 8th Anniversary of Driven By Boredom. I know most of you had no idea that I was running this site as a college sophomore way back in 2001. Probably most of you didn’t know that I was old enough to be a sophomore in 2001, but the fact is, I did and I was. The site has changed a lot over the years and I have some exciting announcements.

1. I am starting a group blog. I often have ideas for ways that my friends can contribute to this site, but since no one realy has in the 8 years it has been running I decided not to start now. That is why I am starting a new blog staffed by friends of this site. It is going to have content from a variety of people. It is going to have people who contribute sporadically as well as a small staff of people posting several times a week. I am hesitant to give you any more details as the blog is still being designed. I never like announcing things ahead of time because a lot of times they never work out, but this is a project I have had in my head for a long time and it looks like it is finally coming together. If there is anyone out there who is looking to become a staff blogger for the new site, please contact me. For at least the short term this would be a completely unpaid position but there are some perks. Anyway, I will be posting another blog when the design is finished and I am ready to start gathering content.

2. Free DBB T-Shirts. As you can see below, modeled by Daniel Casanova AKA DJ RekLES, I have made Drivenbyboredom Tshirts. Thanks to Kill Shop Kill we have made 100 free shirts that I will be giving away all this week. We are giving away the shirts (plus some tank tops and tote bags) at three Drivenbyboredom Anniversary Parties this week: Tuesday at Disco Down at Happy Endings, Wednesday at Playhouse at Cain and on Friday at Trash downstairs at Webster Hall. If you do not live in the city, or can’t make it out for the next 24 hours 48 hours you can order a free shirt on this site by using the pay pal link below. Come Monday Tuesday morning I am shutting down the Pay Pal for this so you only have today and Monday to get a free shirt. They cost $5 each, but that is only to cover the shipping and Pay Pal costs. Essentially they are free. After today the shirts (assuming we print more) are going to be $15 or $20 each (I need to talk to KSK about this) so get your free one today. More information about the parties will be posted this week.

UPDATE: The free shirts are no longer available online.  Look for them this week at the parties mentioned above and the shirts should be available soon online and at the Kill Shop Kill store in Williamsburg.

About the design: The shirt was designed by Nick The Duke of Cobra Kai based off the Chanel Liquidation by French graffiti artist ZEVS.

Trash Tonight!

I scheduled a hosting gig at the newest location of Trash for my first week back from my west coast jaunt. Trash has been at Webster Hall (11th between 3rd and 4th Ave) for the last couple months and I have to say it is fantastic. It has been so much more fun than it was at Home Sweet Home or 40 C. It has a different feel, but it is bigger, louder and has a weird cross over crowd. Trash is down stairs, and Alex English and Co. throw a jam upstairs, but there is also a third room that attracts a different crowd all together. I personally like the mixed crowd. I also love the sound system. The first time I walked down there I thought there was a live band playing.

Anyway, Trash is tonight and every Friday, so come out. If you want on the list, drop me an email and we shall see what I can do… See you there.  If you don’t get on my list and want to come, mention Driven By Boredom for reduced admission.

Oh yeah, keep in mind, this is at “The Studio” at Webster Hall.  It has it’s own separate entrance on the side.  So skip the madness at the front and look for Brendan James.

New Years Eve

So, I had no idea what I wanted to do for New Years when I was hired to shoot the Semi Precious Weapons party at Public Assembly.  I asked for more money because I didn’t want to be tied down for New Years, unfortunately they didn’t have the money in their budget.  So a few days go bye and I still had no idea what I wanted to do, and I decided I needed the money, so I asked for the job.  Now this time they have less money and I end up getting $50 less than they offered in the first place.  I am a fucking chump.  But I think the party will be fun.  I have some guest list spots so hit me up if you want on.  It should be a good time.  Also, I will be drunk, which many of you know is a special occasion as I only drink twice a year.  New Years Eve and my birthday.  Remind me to bring out my back up camera so I don’t break my D300.  Kthx.

Echo & The Bunnymen After Party

There is this Echo & The Bunnymen after party tonight at Beauty Bar tomorrow. I know absolutely nothing about the band (except for the songs that Jess spins over and over again) but I walk by Radio City Music Hall every day and they seem pretty psyched about them. They have been on the marquee for 2 months. Anyway, the after party should be fun I am sure. Plus I will be there snapping photos and if only for a few hours, the world will be okay. Wall St. And Main St. might be full of pot holes, but 14th St. is still a-okay. Join me.
