One of my favorite websites of all time is Japander.com.  I don’t know why I never hear about this site anymore… You would think with YouTube and Blogs being so forced in our faces that these out of country celebrity ads would be more popular.  Japander has so many videos of HUGE celebrities selling bullshit in Asia and Europe.  The Arnold Schwarzenegger commercials are the one that put this site on the map back in the day.  The are insane.  Anyway, the video I found recently I did not find on Japander, it just made me think about that site.  This is a video of Michael “Boogaloo Shrimp” Chambers AKA Turbo from Breakin’ and Breakin’ 2: Electric Boogaloo selling Aqua Fresh toothpaste in Japan.  It is fucking surreal.

OMG. I just like totally slept foreverz.  Wtf?  LOL!

I went to bed at like 8AM yesterday and I woke up at 11PM.  According to my calculations that is roughly 15 hours of sleep.  That is completely unreasonable.  I had a dream about Fred Thompsons mother building Legos that we were going to paint to look like Chocolate Chip cookies.

What is up with NYC?  Everyone quit doing anything fun for the Holidays.  I have done some nice hanging out, but no serious partying.  Other than New Years it seems like I have not shot anything in ages.  It probably will be 1AM before I go out tonight, but I know some stuff is going on so hopefully I will have some photos tomorrow.

Last night I was going to go out with a friend of mine who was in town.  She had a car but we were going to take the Subway because we didn’t want to park it but after we walked half way to the Subway we realized it was far too cold to be walking so we went back to the car.  We drove about 5 blocks but she couldn’t reach her friend so we turned around and decided to get some food while we waited.  Her tire looked sort of flat so she tried putting air in it while I bought us some snacks.  The tire didn’t look any better so I put some air in it, but it still looked bad.  We still couldn’t reach her friends so we drove back to my house and tried to find parking, but we couldn’t find anything on the right side of the street.  Right in front of my apartment there was  a spot but she would have to move it very soon for street cleaning.   We took it anyway and when we got out her tire was completely flat.  I had to change her tire in 10 degree coldness.  It sucked and part of the jack was missing so I had to make this makeshift jack thing and it took 10 times too long to do it and I was freezing my ass off for an hour.  We then gave up our plans to do anything in the city and watched Mumblecore movies until 6 AM.  Then she took a nap while I waited up until she had to move her car at 8.  Then we moved her car, slept 2 hours then she had to leave.  And I slept until just fucking now.

Next point:  I recently talked to someone who did not know the difference between a Democrat and a Republican.  She was a grown woman and had no idea who the vice president was, why we are at war or what a dictator was.  She seemed interested in knowing about this stuff so I tried to teach her some stuff, but every time I mentioned one thing I had to explain ten more.  She is not a dumb girl, she just has no idea of anything going on around her politically and historically.  In our two hour conversation I told her about who was running for president, WWII, genocide, Rwanda, Darfur, Desert Storm, the current war, Israel v. Palestine, South Africa, Gandhi, and Communism.  When I got to Communism I knew I had to give up.  How the Hell do you explain Marxism to someone in a casual conversation when they think it is “that bad stuff that Russia did”.  The scary part is not that this girl exists, because she was curious and I am going to help her register to vote and get her things to read and watch, but the fact that there are millions of Americans who are the same way.  It is terrifying to me.  This is why this country is the way it is.  We need help.

Speaking of presidents, here is a video game you can play that the for mentioned girl would not understand, but hopefully you will.  It is called Kung Fu Election and you can play Mortal Kombat with the presidential candidates… or at least eight of them.  I was really hoping to kick Mitt Romney’s ass with Denis Kucinich, but alas, that is not an option.

Okay, thats a nice blog to start and end the day.  I will try to sleep less and update more tomorrow…. cause I will probably be awake for the next 24 hours.  I’ll be productive!

When I was in Richmond with the Gaskets I was bored as hell in the recording studio because they were just recording guitar tracks over and over again and my in put is not valued. I just sat there working on an animated GIF of my chicken tattoo dancing. I then put it to music and made a meme out of it on ytmnd.com. Check that shit out here.

The Lovely Brenda showed me this website, Kiva.org, where you can lend money to business people in third world countries.  It is really amazing because you are donating money to help people with their businesses and you can see directly what your money is doing.  Then at some point they pay you back and you can take that money and lend it to someone else.  So over the course of a few years you could help many people with a donation as low as 25 dollars.  I think it is amazing.  I am going to be lending some money for sure, I hope you guys do the same.  Check out Bill Clinton talking up the program on of all places, Fox News.

So like, one of the best things I have done in a while is subscribed to Boing Boing’s RSS feed.  If you don’t know what an RSS feed is just pretend I said I bookmarked the site.  The site is just a collection of random stuff on the internet.  I don’t look at half their posts, but they post so much that I still read two or three amazing things a day from them.   A lot of times it is way too geeky for me, but even then its nice to feel like I am in on the inside joke that is the internets.  I read Ctrl Alt Del for the some reason.  Anyway, this is just one of the lovely things they posted today:  Squishy Pig Toys!

Happy Thanksgiving.  I am taking the day off.  Even on Thanksgiving there is always room for Jell-o.

Meet Kristy Tallman: Poet, Songwriter, Horror Author. She is a real Renaissance woman. She just added me to myspace. I didn’t recognize her so I decided to check her page out. 10 seconds later I had IMed 3 of my friends her myspace link. I got into two 30 minute conversations with people about how hilarious this woman is before I realized I needed to blog about her. I hate to just rag on a total stranger. At some point in my life it might have been much easier, like when I made a website making fun of progeria. I just didn’t think I had that in me anymore but I found a real gem here. This woman is amazing. This article is probably going to be about 10,000 words long and I still won’t even have scratched the surface of how funny her web presence is. Because of this I am going to take a little page break after this photo. So please stay with me, because this is going to be fun. And Kristy, I know you just Googled your name and found this… let me just say I am sorry, but you are too precious not to share with the world. I hope you sell some books because of it.

My friend Raechel is amazing except for the fact that she spells her name like that and because she made her exboyfriend way less fun. She sent me this. It is a page of many graphs and charts that are about rap songs and lyrics. It is so good. This one below is my favorite I think… although references to CB4 make me really happy too.

I was looking at the first few months of Drivenbyboredom way back in March 2001.  My site got a big jump in traffic because when the Russian MIR space station went crashing back to Earth I pretended to sell it on ebay.  I made this ball of duct tape and wire and wrote up the description:

This is an actual piece of the Mir Space Station. It crashed and i fished it out of the ocean. I don’t know what it is, but its definitely part of the Mir. I am sure its worth thousands of dollars, but you can by it now for a MIR 15 hundred! HA HA! MIR! By the way, this is all a lie, it is actually duct tape and wire.

Anyway, this made the national news and was written up in the Register and Wired.  Ebay closed the auction when it got up to 15 thousand dollars.  It was also on some Canadian news program but for some reason the made it seem like I was trying to rip people off… very weird.   So that was my little 15 minutes and the start of a website that used to get a lot more traffic than it does now.
