Two of my favorite Austinites, and possibly two of my favorite people ever, were dumb enough to get my logo on them today.  I was hanging out with my old roommate and hero Michael “Smoke Bomb” Kristoph who now lives in Austin and is letting me sleep on his couch during South By Southwest and my second biggest internet crush Chelsea. We were sitting around a bar joking about bad tattoos, and Chelsea just called her tattoo friend and they got the logo 10 minutes later.  The tattoos were done by Matt Morren at Dandyland Tattoo on 6th St in Austin.  He is my new best friend.  He drew ball hairs on Chelsea’s logo and lightning bolts on Michael’s.  Also Dandyland is amazing because two years ago they sold me a new lip ring for like two dollars and one of the dudes working there has a Mishka tattoo and complimented my new Jordan’s.  How is that for a link filled post? Amazing.

Okay so I got some new Jordans and I like blogging about the shoes I get so there is a picture below.  But the main point of this post is a little site update. I spent an insane amount of time doing my taxes and getting shirts ready to send out and I have not started packing for SXSW.  My insurance company is fucking me to the wall and I have to deal with that tomorrow.  Then I go to Texas and I have no idea what my blogging situation is going to be.  So, let me tell you this.  This site may be slow to update over the next 7 days, but I am going to have some great shots from Austin, so at least get excited for that.  N00dz update tomorrow then I am out of town.  Speaking of N00dz, if you are a girl who wants to be naked on my website, and you are going to SXSW, drop me a line.  Let’s be productive.

I am in DC.  I will be back in New York tomorrow.  I will have new updates probably tomorrow night, god willing.  I have some good stuff to go up from Philly.  Have a preview whist I am slacking.

I just wanted to give you a heads up that the power cord to my computer broke and since the battery doesn’t work I could not turn on my computer for several hours today.  I drove to Philly for the opening weekend of the Backseat Film Festival but I picked up a charger and a battery (only a $240 purchase for shit I allready bought once [and in the case of my charger, twice]) on the way.  After watching some weird horror movie about a burning house, eating cheese steaks and hanging out with some friends I finally got a minute to update my site.  Hopefully later today (it is 8am now and I haven’t slept yet) I will have some time to up the photos from Friday, but don’t count on anything… I have 8 hours of sleep, 2 movies and an after party ahead of me.  Anyway I thought I would take these short moments I have before my sleeping pills kick in to tell you about what happened a few nights ago after my sleeping pills kicked in.

Before I went to sleep the other night I read this article about some new species discovered in the Tasman fracture, a trench that is 4KM below sea level (I am not sure how deep that is in American, but my guess is pretty fucking deep).  Anyway, it was about a Venus fly trapesque sea squirt that eats shrimp.  It was pretty interesting and I soon drifted off to sleep.  About an hour later I was awoken by a text message and for some reason I pulled up my laptop and decided I had something super important to say about the new found sea life.  I completely forgot about it when I woke up the next morning but when I woke up the next morning I found this typed on my computer screen:

The day I have always been fearing is here.  Scientists have found new canibal plants living at the bottom of the ocean.  And if I knowa nything about sea monsters is that they are huge and man eating.  These ones may seem sall and harmlesss, but undoubtably they are only babies.  In the future when we have poluted the earth so badly that we are living in under water colonies, we will be forces to defend our watery homes from these killer fish-like monster plants that will soon develop an unsateable taste for human flesh.

And while I admit there are a lot of misspellings (I would like to argue that unsateable is a better word than insatiable despite the fact that it is not actually a word) I think I have made some excellent points here.  If nothing else, it is pretty hilarious that I would get up in the middle of the night to write about man-eating fish-plants.  I just have been emailing this thing to friends over the last few days and I figured I would share it with you.  I hope you are happy, I am going to sleep.

The DBB 8th Anniversary party part 2 at Cain last night was insane.  I will have all the photos up tomorrow.  You guys gotta come out to Trash tomorrow night, I will be giving away the rest of these T Shirts. Hit me up for guest list, I still have a few spots.

Before Cain, and before I got my new tattoo, I went over to Glamour Garage in Williamsburg to hook my friends up with some Driven By Boredom tattoos.  Glamour Garage hooked them up with free tattoos to celebrate the 8th Anniversary, and I have done (and will be doing more) photo work for them in trade for DBB tattoos, so if you want to look as awesome as these sexy ladies, let me know.  I have a list of 8 more people who told me they want some so hopefully we can keep posting shots like this.  Thanks to Dakota at Satan’s Hammer who just happened to be stopping by Glamour Garage and hooked the girls up with their ink even though GG’s normal tattoo artist Bryan was out of town.

Today is the 8th Anniversary of Driven By Boredom. I know most of you had no idea that I was running this site as a college sophomore way back in 2001. Probably most of you didn’t know that I was old enough to be a sophomore in 2001, but the fact is, I did and I was. The site has changed a lot over the years and I have some exciting announcements.

1. I am starting a group blog. I often have ideas for ways that my friends can contribute to this site, but since no one realy has in the 8 years it has been running I decided not to start now. That is why I am starting a new blog staffed by friends of this site. It is going to have content from a variety of people. It is going to have people who contribute sporadically as well as a small staff of people posting several times a week. I am hesitant to give you any more details as the blog is still being designed. I never like announcing things ahead of time because a lot of times they never work out, but this is a project I have had in my head for a long time and it looks like it is finally coming together. If there is anyone out there who is looking to become a staff blogger for the new site, please contact me. For at least the short term this would be a completely unpaid position but there are some perks. Anyway, I will be posting another blog when the design is finished and I am ready to start gathering content.

2. Free DBB T-Shirts. As you can see below, modeled by Daniel Casanova AKA DJ RekLES, I have made Drivenbyboredom Tshirts. Thanks to Kill Shop Kill we have made 100 free shirts that I will be giving away all this week. We are giving away the shirts (plus some tank tops and tote bags) at three Drivenbyboredom Anniversary Parties this week: Tuesday at Disco Down at Happy Endings, Wednesday at Playhouse at Cain and on Friday at Trash downstairs at Webster Hall. If you do not live in the city, or can’t make it out for the next 24 hours 48 hours you can order a free shirt on this site by using the pay pal link below. Here is an adorable little girl talking about adorable cats. Just the type of thing that makes me want to strangle the internets, but also the type of thing that will calm you down while you can’t look at photos of naked girls.

I just wish I had a cute progeny that I could manipulate in order to make viral videos for the Youtubes.

Update: Well, I guess things are fixed. No idea what happened, evidently a WordPress file disappeared. Update coming later tonight. I am pretty much caught up photo wise.

Update Again: Evidently the galleries are still not working.  Why is it that only one person is telling me about this?  If my site explodes in the future, I expect to hear from you guys about it.  Hopefully the site will be working soon.  Don’t expect an update until things are fixed.

Just a quick update with some non party, non nude work I did….

I shot all the photos for the website for this photo contest.  There is a poster too, but I haven’t seen it yet.  I will get an image of that when I have one.  I photographed all my cameras for fun a while back.  I blogged about it here.  These Swiss guys found the photo on Flickr and liked it and wanted me to redo it.  I did, and then they paid for my rent for two months.  I love them.

Anyway, the photo old from Flickr is below and the website with the new shots is here.  The last of Sundance goes up in about ten minutes and god willing my gallery software is going to stop fucking with me and we will have photos from the Vice party on Wednesday, Webster Hall on Friday and 2 hours at the Comic Con on Sunday.  I will put them all up tomorrow if they have been uploaded by then.  See you soon.
