First, I just wanted to update you on my life. I have been in Vegas for the last two days and things have been pretty crazy. They have lived up to the hype of the AVN porn weekend madness that one expects from this insane trip. I will have pretty crazy pictures next week.  I have slept even less than I normally sleep and I am sort of losing it. The wifi at my hotel is fucking horrible so updating my site has been next to impossible. I am fighting through this shit now. I really hope I am going to be able to upload the pictures below.  It took me forever to update my Tumblr but you should check it as there are a couple of crazy pics over there. Hopefully I will be all settled by Monday and will have time to edit and start uploading pictures…

Now, to the meat of this update.  My friend Rhiannon was visiting the US from Australia for New Years and decided to get a Driven By Boredom tattoo.  Of all the people with the tattoo she has been reading Driven By Boredom the longest.  When I first started DBB about 10 years ago I was actively involved in a community of some of the first bloggers. People who ran what was then called E/N sites or “Everything/Nothing” sites. They were the first people just blogging about bullshit. Rhiannon was part of that scene and I talked to her almost daily online for years. About two years ago she came to the states and wanted to meet some of the people she had been talking with for years including another Rhiannon who I actually went to college with. I hung out with them then and we had a little web reunion with some people and it was a lot of fun.  This time she came back and I ended up spending a few days with the Rhiannon’s and Aussie Rhi wanted to get a tattoo to commemorate her trip and she thought the DBB tattoo would sort of sum up the weird several years of her life when she was actively blogging and engaged in a community of geeky strangers all over the world. And I was happy to oblige her and we headed over to Glamour Garage and hit up the amazing Jess Versus got that shit done.

I am leaving town for a two week trip to Vegas and Los Angeles, but don’t worry I have plenty of stuff to update the site with while I am gone.  I still have two parties and two naked girls left over plus some surprises. I will even try to get an update up before I leave tomorrow so I don’t leave you guys hanging. That being said I have a few things I wanted to mention that I figured I could put all in one update so I get this important stuff out of the way before I leave town. So let’s get into it…

The first thing is the most important. I have shot a number of events that featured the Disgraceland Hook Squad. This is a group of crazy kids who do suspensions and flesh pulls and all sorts of other insane shit involving sticking giant hooks into themselves and running around like mad men. You can’t help but love them.  Several of their members got into a car accident back in July and while most of them are recovered one of the people, Spliff is still in the hospital and needs financial help so he can raise the money to move from Texas to NYC.  They were in Texas when the accident happened and they have had to stay there all these months.  They have found a treatment center in NYC that will take Spliff but it’s going to cost a huge amount of money to bring him home. They need to get back home now because his wife Jill, who was also in the accident, is about to have their first child.  She needs her family and friends help to raise the baby and also take care of Spliff so they need to get home before the baby is born. My friend Doug who introduced me to Spliff and Disgraceland has written this blog with a lot more details. You can go there or to Spliff and Jill’s website to donate money.  So many people came out for Jessie Lee when she got injured, I hope you have a little more in you to donate to another friend of the Driven By Boredom family.

On a much happier note I am in a group show at Shadow’s Space art gallery in Philly.  Shadow’s Space is the sister gallery of Fuse gallery in NYC and I am pretty excited to be showing there.  The group show is called “Paper Trails” and it is curated by NYC graffiti icon Chris “DAZE” Ellis.  DAZE and I collaborated on some work for a show a long time ago and I was really glad he thought of me when curating this show.  Unfortunately I am not going to be able to make the opening on Friday because I will be in Vegas but I know a bunch of people from Philly read this site so I hope you guys check out the show. I have four 11×17 photos in it, all shot on 35mm, and they are all of girls naked in public on the streets of NYC.  They are pretty rad.

While we are here I guess I should talk a little about my trip too.  I am headed to Vegas for the weekend to shoot the Adult Entertainment Expo, the AVN Awards, the Consumer Electronics Showcase and all the goings on before and after these events for the Village Voice and the LA Weekly. I might actually skip the AVN Awards and for some reason I haven’t heard back about my CES press credentials yet but I’ll play it by ear when I get there.  I never know what the hell I am doing in Vegas but I do know that I booked a two bedroom hotel suite for myself for some reason so I am going to have some fun either way. After Vegas I am headed to LA for just over a week.  I don’t really have any plans but I think I found a place to stay and I have set up shoots with a bunch of girls. I am going to be doing some more work for the LA Weekly and hoping to shoot some random parties while I am there.  There is also a benefit for Jessie Lee on Thursday which I will be blogging about next week. I am also going to see Jessie Lee for the first time since her accident as she is finally moving to LA the day before I get there. The whole trip should be a lot of fun, a little bit relaxing and hopefully very productive.  It better be because it will be a miracle if I break even on the adventure.  Either way I will be updating DBB often while I am gone so keep coming back. Also, I will be updating my Tumblr with previews of all the crazy shit I am shooting while I am in LA so you should probably get on that.  And of course following my Twitter while I am adventuring is a fucking given.

Finally, I figured I would leave you guys with something fun.  If you have ever wondered to do the secret handshake pioneered by NY nightlife icons like Ninjasonik and The Death Set there is now a how to video which will teach you the handshake. Looks like the “Slap Slap Slap Pound Up Down Slap Snap” handshake is not so secret anymore. You no longer have any excuse not to be down. Get on it.

I have been talking shit about my Christmas Card for weeks now and you finally get to see it!  I sent out more than 250 of these for Christmas but since more than 2500 of you view this site a day I know that 90% of you haven’t seen this glorious masterpiece yet.

In 2005 I decided to make a Christmas card when I was living in Richmond, VA.  I went to my friends (AVN nominated) sex shop Taboo and bought a Christmas thong and posed for my card in just the thong and a santa hat.  When I moved to NYC in 2006 I didn’t get a card together, but the next year I decided to up the ante and put two cute girls in Christmas thongs with me.  That card seemed to be very popular.  I had a lot left over so I sent out those cards again in 2008 and 2009 mostly because I am lazy, but in 2010 I thought it was time to step up again and make everyone’s Christmas dreams come true.

I figured most people who had seen my old card would expect naked girls again and I have gained a few lbs and decided maybe a thong wasn’t my best look, so I decided to come up with a new idea.  That idea was The Fat Jew.  For those who don’t know the Fat Jew he was a musician and will soon be a TV star but for now he is just a fat lunatic who makes an excellent naked Jewish Santa.  The Fat Jew owed me some money from when he hired me to shoot him and Kid Cudi hanging out on the day that Michael Jackson died.  I figured I was never going to get paid so I told him we would be even if he posed for my Christmas card.  He was more than willing… some  would say he was excited.

So I got my self a woman’s Christmas sweater from the thrift store down the street, bought a few rolls of Christmas wrapping paper for a backdrop and called my friend Chris from Eat The Cake NYC to come help me take pictures. When the Fat Jew showed up I tossed him my thong and hat and we got to work.  I tried sitting on his lap but it wasn’t quite working. My legs looked way too big in the frame. We tried a few things and ultimately settled with me on the ground between Santa’s legs.  And yes, the Fat Jew’s balls were tickling the back of my neck for the entire shoot. We eventually tried some hilarious Home Alone style shots and then I took the camera from Chris and shot a few of the Fat Jew as solo Santa.

After the shoot I took the pictures overs to my friends at Chips NY and had them make me a lovely card.  Then I had 500 of them made, bought 80 dollars worth of stamps and convinced a really cute girl to help me stamp and label them all…. And that is how you make a Christmas miracle.

As you probably are aware I sent out more than 250 Christmas cards this year.  If you didn’t send in your address unfortunately it’s too late.  I am going to do a post with the card and a bunch of outtakes on Christmas day but until then I am just going to keep teasing you.  I hyped this card up so much that most people thought it could never live up to the hype.  Well it sounds like it lived up to it and is changing lives as promised. I wish I could post some of the texts I got about it, but this is just going to have to do…  Get excited for the 25th when I release the outtakes.  It will be just like Christmas!

The NY Daily News wrote up this Harry Potter street art stunt at the Union Square Subway stop. My DBB sticker just happened to be in the shot. Both The Village Voice and Gothamist wrote it up as well so here are some serious viral points for my sticker.

And lastly I shot a bunch of photos for Ryan Keely’s Porn Star Sex Life workshop a while ago. Evidently they ended up in Penthouse Magazine which is always pretty funny. As you may have noticed I have not been shooting much recently. Dealing with the juggalos took a lot out of me. I have been staying in a lot and pretty much hanging out by myself. That time has passed it is time to get serious again and get back to work. I have spent the last 12 hours not sleeping but trying to get my life together and I have marked a ton of shit off my to do list but I have a long way to go. But in the mean time, for you guys, I have some house cleaning shit to talk to you guys about.

The first is that we can finally put the juggalos to bed. I will be posting again when the Village Voice article finally comes out but other than that this is a juggalo free zone for the foreseeable future. But, before we do that, I spent several hours last night organizing all the 21 posts from the Gathering of the Juggalos into a lovely easy to handle page that you can share with your friend and loved ones. I also added some additional coverage and links as well. I have been getting so much traffic from this stuff that it would be nice to have a landing page. I have let it sit around collecting dust.  No longer.  From now on I will be adding photos and fun stuff to it and attempting to interact with people. I am going to preview upcoming galleries on there and I am going to post other photos hopefully. I even made it so you can tag all the photos so you can tag your friends in them and that sort of thing. I know I said no more Juggalos, but the very first thing I did was upload 100 funny juggalo images with the idea that people can tag their friends in them in a scheme to embarrass and mock them. Get excited.

I don’t need photo majors… I need a web intern mostly, although there will be some fun stuff too. It is an artistic but erotic photo blog run by a lot of photographers I love and respect. I am posting almost nothing but never before seen 35mm shots of naked girls. I think you need it in your life. NSFW.

I don’t really have time to update this because it’s very early morning and I am in Nashville, TN getting ready to sleep for a few hours and then rent an RV and drive it to the Gathering of the Juggalos. If you don’t know about this, you need to know. It will be insane.  But for the next four days I might be off the grid. I will be living in an RV and I have my doubts about getting any sort of internet while I am out there. So this could be my last update for a bit. I am going to try my best to update my Tumblr with a few pictures if I can update it with my phone. I will also be updating my Twitter a lot if cell service works.  So follow those things and keep checking back here to see if I am updating. I have some nudes to go up Friday if I have the means to put them up. Just sayin’.

Anyway, Rando was fun, someone got knocked out again and I took a bunch of pictures. That’s all I got to say about that and I will see you guys as soon as possible.

Mostly I just wanted to tell you guys that I am going on Vacation. I will be gone Saturday to Tuesday and then as soon as I get back on Wednesday I leave for another few days to cover THE GATHERING OF THE FUCKING JUGGALOS for the Village Voice. That is really happening. I will be sleeping in an RV for 4 days in the middle of nowhere so I have my doubts that things will get updated at all. I don’t even know if I will have electricity. That is for serious.

So things will be a bit slow next week and clearly they are slow right now. I have an update for you tomorrow, and I hope I will shoot some parties either tonight or tomorrow so I have some shots ready to go for the weekend, but like I said, it might be slow around here for a little while.

Okay, let’s talk about some bullshit. I could use some feedback so read the questions at the end and let me know what you think via the comments or hitting me up somehow.

So you may have noticed recently that there are ads on my web page. This is a trial run to see if I can actually make any money doing this shit. I mean I get paid to take photos, but it would be nice to get paid to blog too.  I get over a million page views a month which when you take two banner spots into account per page you are looking at nearly 2.5 million banner impressions.  Times that by .4 cents and I don’t have to fucking ride the Subway anymore.  That being said I will never sell all the spots but it’s at least a fun thing to try.  The good thing is that I am advertising with IndieClick and they tend to just advertise for stuff that people actually care about or that is at least relevant to my readership. So hopefully you guys will learn about fantastic things you need and I will make a little bit of money. And if you need to buy some American Apparel clothing it probably wouldn’t hurt to do it through my site. Just sayin’.

Speaking of adds on my site.  Check out those Electronic Cigarettes! Seriously that ad is not through IndieClick.  I added it after a friend talked me up about these things.  They use water vapor so there is no tar and nothing burns so you can smoke them inside and they are way better for you.  They are also way cheaper.  If you click one of those banner ads you can get a kit for $60 or something and it comes with like an insane amount of tobacco.  One pack of this stuff has 70 cigarettes.  I might be making all that up but you should at least try this shit cause I hear amazing things and if you buy shit by clicking this link I make money.

Next I wanted to bring up the Meebo task bar at the bottom of the page.  I added it a while ago because it seemed like a good idea and actually people use it sometimes but not often enough to make a difference. I was really wondering if it bugs you guys. I am trying to figure out if it’s worth keeping or if I should just scrap it completely. Let me know.

And lastly, I am working on a possible site redesign soon. I think I am going to have a meeting about it next week and I was hoping I could get feedback from you guys about ideas you had to make my site better.  I check this site all the time on two different computers and a few web browsers but maybe things are happening with your experience that I am not even thinking about. Let me know how I can make you hang out at my site more often and make your viewing it easier. Also, I know my galleries are terrible and fixing them is my main priority right now so I am mostly curious about how you feel about the rest of the page and not so much the galleries.
