Oh man, so excited. I got a new totally ridiculous tattoo. Many years ago while I was visiting some friends at college I was at a party and some how we all kept telling everyone to “Party Forever!”  As people kept leaving we kept yelling “Party Forever!” at people there were only three of us awake and it was 10 AM and we were in someones kitchen trying to cook two dozen eggs at the same time. None of it made any sense but it was pretty funny.  From then on the words “Party Forever” have been stuck in my head.  As a guy who parties for a living and doesn’t know how to sleep, “Party Forever” is a pretty appropriate slogan even though the whole thing is a total joke and about a year ago I decided it would make a funny tattoo.

I originally was just going to get the words “Party Forever” somewhere on my leg, small and inconspicuous, but when I was in Austin for SXSW I came up with a new plan.  I was at a party called Skull By Skull Now which is a party hosted by some really awesome scum fuck bike kids called the Skidmarxxx.  They throw it every year and it is like the closing event of SXSW just much much more dangerous.  They light off fireworks, throw paint, beat people up and just set shit on fire. It is total mayhem.

At the party they were giving out $10 tattoos in a garage.  It did not look extremely safe. The tattoo artists were smoking and pretty much ashing their cigarettes on the tattoos.  I saw a guy pay for a swaztika tattoo made out of ejaculating dicks with a bag of coke. Getting a tattoo at this party was a bad idea, but when I saw a skull wearing a party hat on the flash sheet I got in line.  I was up next when the cops raided the place and threatened to arrest everyone so I never got my tattoo. But from that day forward I knew what I had to do.

A month or two later I ran into Dan from The Death Set who had been one of the few people I had known at Skull By Skull. I hadn’t seen him since and we were catching up.  He showed me his new tattoo which it turns out was done by an old friend of mine. She had just started tattooing and needed victims to practice on.

I have only seen Minka Sicklinger once or thrice in the last two years, but when she first moved to New York I saw her nearly every day.  She was a frequent site in the photos on Driven By Boredom.  She was like the third unofficial member of the Just Friends Crew. I almost never see any of those kids anymore, and they are very missed, but after talking to Dan I figured I should hit up Minka.

Minka is both an illustrator and an amazing up and coming tattoo artist.  She has been tattooing for less than a year and people are talking about her everywhere. She has been getting referrals from people seeing her tattoos on trains. She has only done like 60 tattoos, but already they are fucking sick.  I spent about three hours with her today and she gave me one of my favorite tattoos to date.  I have had several people tell me already that they would buy the design as a t-shirt so maybe a DBB/Minka collab shirt is in the works.

Now Minka is currently working out of her house and already has a waiting list, but you need to hit her up ASAP and get in line.  You need one of her tattoos NOW. You also might want to hit her up for illustration needs because she is a bad ass artist with a very unique style. Oh, did I mention that she is awesome too? Plus she has an Austrailian accent. I mean, let’s be reasonable, you need her arts in your life.

So what you need to do is go to Minka’s two sites and check out her work.  Clearly you need to check out her tattoo blog to see all of the fucking bad ass tattoos she has done, but you aslo need to check out her fine art site to see her illustration and fine art work which is bad ass as well.

Anyway, I am going to stop talking about how happy I am with this Skull-Wearing-A-Party-Hat-With-A-Gold-Tooth-Party-Forever tattoo and let you look at it, and then go harrass Minka.  See you guys this weekend…

On Friday before I went to Webster Hall I went to see Winnebago Man. It was pretty awesome. But before that I went to another awesome thing: the Pint Size Paintings show at Sacred Gallery.  I covered the one night exhibition of teeny tiny works of art for Complex Magazine. The work was amazing the gallery and tattoo shop were very impressive and I got to flirt with cute tattooed girls. It was all pretty on point. I actually bought the Pint Size Paintings book that went along with the fine arts.  They are already working on a second series of paitings for a second book and second show.  I can’t wait to see what else people come up with.

Now I still have an insane headache which probably has a lot to do with the fact that I haven’t had sleeping pills since Thursday so I have been sleeping about 2 hours a night for the last 4 nights. While I was organizing my old hard drives I found a bunch of cool shit including some funny old photos I will be Tumbling next week, some old pictures I took of Lady Gaga in 2007, and this video of me getting my lip pierced.

I got my lip done in 2001 when I was living in Richmond, VA.  Actually now that I think about it, it might have been early 2002, but that is completely not important.  I had the lip ring up until about two years ago when I was at Happy Endings and this drunk model chick punched me in the face for taking her photo.  She was my friends roommate too.  It was really insane, but I guess that’s what happens when you hang out with drunk people every single night.  Anyway, when she punched me the ball from my lip ring popped out and a few days later I lost the lip ring while eating a bagel on the Subway.  I thought about getting a new ring, but I decided that I was way to old to have facial piercings so I took it out.

Anyway, the video is sort of graphic, and very very mildly entertaining.  But if you had the time to read this boring fucking post, you have the time to watch this short and painful video.

Last week Inked hired me to shoot a party they were throwing at a Soho spot called Sweet and Vicious.  They were serving free Jager and root beer which seems totally insane to me.  I am a pretty big root beer fan, so I hope the drink catches on so that I can drink root beer in the clubs.  My friend Brooklynn was there with some hot friends and I took some hot pics of them in a bathroom, but her friend asked me not to post the fun ones.  Their other friend pretty much hated me for some reason, so yeah, it was a weird night. Guess what? Two more people got Driven By Boredom tattoos today!

My friend Jess at Glamour Garage is amazing.  She has now done six of these things.  With four others in existence there are now 10 people with my logo tattooed to them.  Amazing.

The two victims are my friend Fat Shain who you have seen on my site go-going at Trash on Fridays and Chelsea from the Portland rap group SistaFist. I met her on Friday night and she just decided it would be a good idea to get my logo tattooed to her.  I honestly have no idea why but I love her for it.  Shain has been talking about getting my logo done ever since he saw my drippy logo t-shirt. He thought my logo would look great dripping over his knee.  It does.

I am on my way to Philly for the night to shoot some naked Burning Angels, so I am only putting up a few pictures now, but tomorrow I will upload the rest of them and they will be available with all the other DBB tattoo pics by clicking right here.

Driven By Boredom turns 9 today and I thought I was going to announce the opening of the DBB web store, but my intern seems to have quit on me and I am going to be gone for most of March so I couldn’t really send anything out, so I am going to hold off on it for a little bit. But be warned, I have stuff coming…

Nine years is a long time.  I went to the same school for nine years and it seemed like my entire life, yet I just got an email announcing my 10 year reunion.  Which is actually my 11 year reunion, but my school only does reunions every other year or something crazy like that.  Like we are paired up with the class of 2000.  It is very odd, but it reminds me that I need a celebrity girlfriend by May.  Any ideas?

So 9 years ago DBB wasn’t a party photo blog.  I mean, I put lots of photos on it, and it was a blog, but not anything like it is now.  I mean blog wasn’t even a word then.  I get more traffic now than I did back then, but it seemed like my site was a lot bigger.  1500 viewers a day was a much greater percentage of people using the internet.  Everyone commented and spent a long time on the site and were invested in my life for no reason other than it was there.  Now everyone’s existence is a mini blog via twitter and facebook and everything and no one really cares. Still, I have managed to maintain a fan base, over a very long time and I love you all.

Now to the meat of this post, more DBB tattoos!  Eight people now have my logo tattooed to them! My friend Jess over at Glamour Garage in Williamsburg did some more DBB tattoos for me today. She tattooed two ladies and my friend Nikki.  The two ladies are the lovely Vicki and Emily Delight.  Both of them are gonna have new nudes up on this site this week I think. They should be kinda awesome as they are both shot in public.  Also, all three of them got variations of the logo to some degree so that is fun.  And just FYI Vicki’s is just light blue but she was bleeding a lot so you can’t really tell.

Wow. I was all ready to post these pictures last night but I fell asleep while I was uploading them and woke up at 3 AM.  Woops.

I have had a weird week and didn’t shoot any photos at all. Fortunately Inked Magazine got me out of the house and had me shoot the benefit party for Matty No Times from Three Kings Tattoo who had a liver transplant recently.  The party was only a few blocks from me at Union Pool in Brooklyn and it was completely packed despite the bitter cold.  It was so packed in fact that it was extremely hard to take any pictures.  I shot over 100 photos and ended up with about 25 usable ones which is well below my normal average.  Still, it was awesome to see so many people come out an support especially with a $10 cover.  You seriously could not move a muscle. Gospel, Drunk Driver and Tournament played the show and had their merch sales go to Matty as well.  It was a pretty impressive show of support.

So the other day when Jess Versus offered to give people free DBB tattoos at Glamour Garage I was sort of annoyed that two of the people getting them couldn’t make it.  Since I was there anyway, and Jess was expecting to be tattooing for me, we decided it would be good if she tattooed something incredibly stupid on me.  We settled on this really dumb joke I came up with a while ago.  There is that expression, “You are the bee’s knees”, and for some reason I though the concept of my knee’s having bees on them would be really funny.  Trust me, I know it isn’t funny, but I sort of got that idea in my head.  I knew I would never actually get bumble bee’s tattooed on my knees, but then I saw this girl wearing a shirt with an uppercase B and a lower case b on it in Helvetica. Bb. And it reminded me of the alphabets that go around a class room when you are a little kid to teach you how to write the alphabet. So yeah, it all came together, and I thought it would be really funny just to have a Bb on my knee, and then when people asked me what the hell that was, I would be like “That’s my knee’s B’s”. Again, clearly I know this was a stupid idea for a tattoo, but now it is a just a stupid tattoo.  Ladies and gentlemen I present to you, my left knee:

I recently talked my friend and tattoo artist Jess Versus to tattooing the Driven By Boredom logos on some of my friends. I had three people lined up to go yesterday but one had their car towed and one slept through her alarm after staying up all night. I was not very happy with this, but fortunately my friend and porn star Nova came to the rescue getting the DBB logo on her elbow in shiney pink and purple. Nova is of course awesome and you can see the mini NSFW set I did of her here and you can see her have sex with people for mere dollars a month on BurningAngel.com. Anyway, because yesterday was kinda a bust Jess told me she would hook up some more DBB tattoos in the near future, so if you want one, let me know.
