Old School Photoblog: LoopMonkey.com

So this is going to be hard to explain,  When I went to college in 1999 at Penn State I never really found anything to do.  I into punk rock and I dressed like some weird raver/punk/rockabilly mix.  There was almost no punk scene at PSU.  I had only a few friends and I didn’t and still don’t drink.  All there was at school was frat parties.  I hated that shit.  Anyway, one day it was freezing out and my friend Dave and I got on the drunk bus that takes people around the campus late at night so they don’t have to drive home or walk around in the snow.  We just drove it around all night and for some reason we had this stuffed monkey with us.  Cute girls kept talking to us about the monkey and I kept thinking about how I wish I had my camera on me cause so many weird things kept happening.  The next weekend I did it again, and then again and again.  I started this website which is the worse designed and organized website of all time.  I was taking all the photos with my roommates APX camera which no one uses anymore.  It was this really tiny film thing and took horrible pictures.  It was before digital cameras so every week I was developing the film and having the negatives scanned which cost a fortune at the time so I only took one roll a day.  After a few weeks doing it a girl wrote an article on me for the school newspaper.  The Penn State Daily Collegian is not your normal school newspaper.  It is the only local newspaper for all of State College, PA and it has a circulation of about 50k.  Every single student reads this… and the put a HUGE picture of me on the cover.  After that I had people talking to me about my site every single day five times a day.  It was so fucking annoying so I quit.  Some girls even made a documentary film about me which I would kill to get a YouTube version online.  I had my 15 minutes of fame and I hated it.  So that’s that.  But let it be known that I had a photo blog before you did so I win… blah.  Loopmonkey.com is a fucking mess so I uploaded all the photos to DBB.  You can see them here.

Chuckles

Once I made the most amazing website on Earth and no one ever saw it.  Today I am showing it to you again 5 years after I made it.  Many of the links don’t work anymore, but I think you should enjoy it anyway, because it is fucking amazing.  I need the world to see it, so send it to all your friends and loved ones.  Don’t tell them I made it, tell them your friend Chuckles did.  He is a dream. Thanks.  Meet Chuckles.

Icy Hot Stuntaz

In 2001 I found a bunch of photos of these rednecks trying to be thugs on a message board.  I took the photos and made this fake website for them.  My site blew up and a number of people made other sites like mine and no one really knew who was first.  I think I was, and I had a few hundred thousand people looked at the page.  I think there was one site more popular than mine but they had the icyhotstuntaz.com URL, which is down now.  I highly regret not registering that when I could have.  I was asked to do an interview with Found Magazine which I turned down for some dumb reason.  Anyway, I just sort of remembered about this so I decided to put it up again.  Check it out.

Fuck Macy’s

Are you sick of getting Macy’s spam on your myspace page?  I know I am.  I decided tonight to fight back.  What did you do at 6AM this morning?  I created one of the worst designed sites on the internet, FUCKMACYS.NET.  I recommends you post the below image on everyone’s pages who sends you this crap and link it to my new site.  The site is slightly helpful, but the image is just mocking.  I am not sure if it is really funny or not, but I think the concept is there and I spent way too long figuring out how to make it look like those ads.  Evidently they used Verdana Bold.  I couldn’t quite figure out the font size, but I just made it bigger and then shrank it.  It is somewhere between 11 and 12pt.  I think.  So seriously, spread the word.  You can help your friends and laugh at them at the same time.

Here is the code to post the image if you want to copy and paste.

My Brother Is In The Onion

Over the last week I have met three people living in NYC who have no idea what the Onion is.  This is amazing to me because the Onion is pretty much the best thing ever and is completely free all over the city.  Anyway, my brother works for the Onion News Network and so I guess they took a photo of him for a mediocre article about… well just read it yourself.  My brother is the person who looks exactly like me in the middle.

DBB In The News

So today was a busy day for Driven By Boredom.  After I posted that Steve Irwin video it got posted on Fark.com.  The video got viewed by a few thousand people and not one of them had one nice thing to say… Which I guess is fair when you post videos of you attacking harmless ducks with fire extinguishers. Fair enough.

Also yesterday the L Magazine Night Life Issue came out and I was interviewed.  They also had night life awards including best night life photographer, which I did not win.  Nor was I honorable mention.  Tragic.  Nikola won and he doesn’t even shoot night life anymore… then again whatever he does shoot is amazing so I am pretty sure he wins at life.  Anyway here is my interview (click it for more photo blogger tell-alls):

One thing to note about this is that they asked everyone where they have had their work published and I am not sure what I said but for the record I was never in Stern magazine, I was on their website, and they still paid me a shit load of money for the photos.  Also, since everyone seems to be dropping blogs they have been on… I was on The Music Slut, And Brooklyn Vegan, and Fleshbot, and Suicide Girls, and in dozens of weekly’s and magazines from all over the place.  I actually have two cover shots.  But, whatever… blah.  Oh… I made another big blog today.  My Lance Bass Photos made Pink Is The New Blog.  W00t

Send It To The Moon?

Marc Ecko bought Barry Bonds 756 home run ball in order to make some insane publicity stunt. He decided that he is going to either give the ball to the Hall of Fame, brand the ball with an asterisk and then give it to the Hall of Fame, or he is going to send it into space. I guess I think it should be in the Hall myself but the asterisk thing is pretty funny. You can vote for yourself.

More Tight Shots

So I have been completely slacking on posting Tight Shots videos. I really like this show. It is directed by my friend, stars another friend, and features music by the band I manage. Please GO HERE and watch the old videos, then watch this one below. This episode features my favorite song of the Greenland album. Sweet.
